A place for learning opened to the local community
"An education hub for the island. When you hear the word “cram school” you get the image of a closed place for specific usage without any relation with the local area but in this project we wanted to create a place that is open for the local community as the “local communication space” as its core where anyone can stop by renovating a 100 years old house. The site is a corner lot between a road where private houses stand in a row and a school route for the high school students. We planned a street called “Earthen floor street” inside the site so that it is possible to access from both streets. “Earthen floor street” appears to the local area without any back side. The renovated house where the “Earthen floor street” pass through and the extended building which faces the road show up as one architecture inside the scenery of the island."
